Sperm separation devices are laboratory tools used to isolate the healthiest, most motile (actively swimming), and morphologically normal sperm from a semen sample. They are commonly used in fertility treatments such as Intrauterine insemination, In vitro fertilization (IVF), and Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

Why sperm separation is performed

The goal is to:

  • Select sperm with good motility and normal shape.

  • Remove dead or immotile sperm.

  • Eliminate debris, white blood cells, and seminal plasma.

Yaws Disease

Yaws is a chronic bacterial infection that mainly affects the skin, bones, and joints. It is caused by the bacterium Yaws, specifically Treponema pallidum subspecies pertenue. It is closely related to the bacterium that causes syphilis, but yaws is not a sexually transmitted infection.

How It Spreads

Yaws spreads through:

  • Direct skin-to-skin contact with the fluid from an infected person's skin lesion.

  • Small cuts or abrasions in the skin facilitate transmission.

  • It is most common among children
